Opinions:

The 64 Bit version of Calibre for current Windows computers is a must have tool to have by everyone who frequently uses eBooks. With the eBook converter Calibre, you can convert various types of document formats into eBooks, in order to read them on the go. Formats that can be imported are CBZ, CBR, CBC, CHM, EPUB, FB2, HTML, LIT, LRF, MOBI, ODT, PDF, PRC, PDB, PML, RB, RTF, TCR, TXT; exported EPUB, FB2, OEB, LIT, LRF, MOBI, PDB, PML, RB, PDF, TCR, TXT. It can then be immediately transferred to a qualified eBook Reader, like the iPad or Amazon Kindle. The conversion function works smoothly and doesn't need configuration. The tool loads news from around 150 international news sites – including the cover - from the Internet. Comics are supported; a server for the supply of eBooks is also integrated. Calibre can also get around the new KF8 format (Kindle Format 8) for modern eBook files. For example, MOBI files that are created with the KF8 format can contain scalable vector graphics. A profile for the Kindle Paperwhite is also integrated. In Calibre, you can search through many international online stores - now also with the German Amazon store - for books in eBook format. The results are clearly displayed, sorted from the lowest price. In addition, the developer promises a lot of new plug-ins, which can extend Calibre's individual functions for the user. A new ‘Style Interface’ gives Calibre a modern look. Android devices can also be connected with Calibre via a wireless network. This works with a specific Calibre Companion App from the Google Play Store. If you use Stanza on your iPhone or iPod touch, you can access your Calibre library directly from the device. For this, you must activate the Calibre Content Server and run Calibre. Calibre is published in version 1.0. This gives the programme a new cover view in the library. Furthermore, the manufacturer reports to have introduced an even faster database back-end. You can find listed details of all other changes and new features in the official change log. In conclusion: With Calibre, you can view, manage, convert and synchronise your eBooks with matching hardware.
